Til Laddoos are prepared and relished fondly during Makar Sankranti, a harvest festival. Til, that is sesame is harvested in plenty during this period.


1 cup of roasted white sesame seeds ( roast till aromatic and they start popping)

½ cup of jaggery


2 tablespoon groundnuts ( roasted and halved)

½ teaspoon of cardamom powder

Step By Step Method

  • Add 2 tablespoons of water to the jaggery in a kadai and heat on medium flame. The consistency of the jaggery should be checked. When you introduce a drop of the heated jaggery in a plate of water, it should remain as a drop and not start dissolving in it. This is the consistency you need to achieve. Now the roasted sesame seeds and groundnuts are mixed with the jaggery and the heat turned off. The cardamom powder is mixed in as well. Now grease the palms of your hands generously with ghee and start making uniform balls of the til jaggery mixture while hot. Once the mixture cools down, it will not be possible to roll them into the laddoo form. Now the Til Laddoos are ready.
