A sweet delicacy that is generally made with Semolina and Mawa during the auspicious period of Makar Sankranti.


  1. Milk solids (khoya) 400 grams

  2. Semolina (rawa/suji) 250 grams

  3. Ghee 2 tablespoons

  4. Dates 3-4

  5. Powdered sugar 100 grams

  6. Milk 1/4 cup

Step By Step Method

    • Heat ghee in a pan.

    • Add semolina to the heated ghee and roast till it reaches a pinkish hue. Remove this and keep in a plate.

    • Now add the mawa to the pan and again heat till it reaches a pinkish colour.

    • Deseed the dates and chop them finely.

    • Mix all the ingredients together (the semolina, mawa and dates)

    • Add sugar and a little milk to the mixture. This can be to your taste.

    • You can then mould the mixture into shapes that you like, it could be circles squares, hearts or any other shape.

    • Cool and store in an airtight container.
