It is a classic Andhra combination for break fast of hot ghee vadas with chicken curry as accompaniment


For. Nethi Garelu Urad dal-200 gms Mint leaves Curry leaves Coriander leaves Ginger -1 inch Green chillies-3-4 Sliced onion -1 Sat to taste Ghee-300 gms For Chicken curry Chicken -1/2 kg(preferably leg and thigh) Sliced onion-1 Chilli powder -1 tea spoon Green chilli’s -2 Turmeric powder-1/2 tea spoon Dhaniya powder-2 tea spoons Salt to taste Fresh Ginger garlic paste -1 tea spoon Oil-1 table spoon Coriander leaves Mint leaves Garam masala -1/2 tea spoon Shahi jeer -1/2 tea spoon

Step By Step Method

  • For Nethi Garelu Soak urad dal over night. In the morning, grind it to fine paste with little water. Add finely chopped onions, chopped ginger, coriander leaves, mint leaves,green chilli’s sliced,salt. Heat ghee in kadai. Make circular donut like shaped mixture on a wet cloth and slide it gently into hot ghee and fry it till light golden brown. Repeat for all vadas For Chicken curry Heat oil in a pan and add shahi jeera and then add sliced onions, ginger garlic paste, green chilli’s,mint and coriander leaves. Mix well and cook till onion turns light golden brown. Add Chicken pieces , chilli powder, turmeric powder.salt and mix well.Let it cook on high heat for 5 minutes.The. Add dhaniya powder,garam masala and mix well . Cook till chicken is well down and garnish with mint leaves. Hot vadas with chicken curry is now ready and serve hot for best taste.
