Sankranti is a time to treat yourself to Kurmure Chikki. It is a delicious combo of puffed rice and jaggery to enhance your energy levels.


5 cups of puffed rice

1 cup of jaggery

1 tablespoon of ghee

2 tablespoons of oil



non-stick kadai

Step By Step Method

  • Dry roast the puffed rice until crispy. Heat the ghee and oil in a kadai and mix in the grated jaggery till there is a change in its colour. Switch off the heat source as soon as it start bubbling. Check the consistency by placing a drop of jaggery on a plate and check if it is hardening. Now mix in the puffed rice till all of it is coated well with the jaggery. Transfer this mixture to a greased plate and spread it out evenly. Make uniform square cuts into them, when the mixture is warm. Once cool, break away the square pieces to be relished during the cold season.
