Boiled Potatoes
Gram Flour [Besan]
Mustard Seeds, Asafoetida
Finely chopped Green Chillies, Ginger, Garlic,
Finely chopped Curry Leaves and Coriander Leaves
Turmeric Powder, Baking Soda
Lemon Juice or Dry Mango Powder
Oil for frying
Salt to taste


Step By Step Method

  • - Boil the potatoes in a pressure cooker or another pan until soft, peel and mash coarsely.
    - Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seed, a pinch of asafoetida and finely chopped curry leaves.
    - Mix in all the ingredients and add mashed potatoes to the mixture.
    - Divide it into equal portions and make round shaped balls from it.
    - Make a batter of gram flour with baking soda and salt.
    - Dip each ball into the batter and deep fry it.
    - Serve hot with chutney.
