It is a yummy sweetened milk pudding with crispy fried semolina bread in it. It is relished during this festival by young and old alike.

1 litre milk

1 cup sugar

2 tablespoons of ghee

2 cups semolina/Rawa

Few strands of saffron

Oil for deep frying

Kadai, Spoon, Bowl

Step By Step Method

  • Mix the Semolina and ghee and knead it into a tough dough with very little water. Divide the dough into equal lemon sized balls. Roll into thin discs and poke some holes onto it with a knife so that they don’t puff up while deep frying. Deep fry each of them into crispy flat fritters. And let them drain on a kitchen towel.

In another thick bottomed sauce pan, thicken milk and sugar mixed in it and introduce the few saffron strands into it for that aromatic flavour. Once the milk is thickened, add in the crushed fritters and turn off the heat. Now it is ready to be served.
